Hydraulic chain saws are often utilised by power utility workers, vegetation management and tree clearing crews. Available in standard hand held chainsaw version as well as long reach pole saw. These units require a low pressure hydraulic power source and are often operated out of EWP's (elevated work platforms or aerial buckets). They can also be operated from some machinery (bobcat, tractor, excavator, etc - these items may require a flow control valve) or petrol/diesel/electric pump. Hydraulic chainsaws can be used with long hose sets keeping the chainsaw a long distance from the pump or power source. With the right power source/pump the tool can be operated for longer periods of time than self contained chainsaws (such as petrol), they can also be more powerful and weigh less than these units.
